Tawa College

Secondary school in Wellington, New Zealand

Tawa College is recognised as a leading co-educational school in the Wellington region and has a national reputation in the performing arts – music, drama and dance. It is a school which achieves very well academically in humanities, sciences and technology, and also offers a wide range of sporting and cultural opportunities. Tawa College provides a balanced education and aims to provide each student with an education that sets them on the path to individual and collective success. It is values-based education and in particular places importance on the service ethic that is a College tradition.

Tawa College is a community-focused school that enjoys many links to the families, alumni, social, sporting and cultural groups in the surrounding area. While the township of Tawa, surrounded by forested hills, is located just 15 minutes by rail from the city centre (around 30 minutes by car from the airport) it has a bit of a "village" feel as most students live within walking distance of the campus. The city of Porirua is a few minutes north of us, and of course the capital city lies to the south. There are walking trails, parks, beaches and facilities in either direction.

Students who graduate in their final year go on to further study at a University or Polytechnic in Wellington or elsewhere in New Zealand, and some even go straight to an overseas university or pursue a career in sport or the arts.
